The Fairview Heights Police Department recently conducted additional traffic enforcement around the Labor Day holiday weekend resulting in 46 traffic citations, including one arrest for driving under the influence (drug impairment).

Nationally in 2018, a total of 10,511 people were killed in drunk driving crashes, making up nearly one-third of all traffic fatalities that year.  More than 10,000 people have died as a result of impaired driving each of the last 4 years in the United States.

The Fairview Heights Police Department joined forces with enforcement agencies and highway safety partners throughout the state for the enforcement effort. The statewide “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” and “Click It or Ticket” campaigns are made possible by federal highway safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation
