On August 28, 2024, at approximately 2:15 AM, Fairview Heights patrol officers responded to a reported home invasion at an address on Stites Avenue. The suspect, MARKEITHION D. MOORE (AGE 19), was known to the victim and had unlawfully entered the residence through a window.

Moore physically battered a victim multiple times. Another occupant of the residence witnessed Moore battering the victim. After being discovered, Moore stole a cell phone and fled the scene through the same window. Despite an immediate search of the area, officers were initially unable to locate Moore.

In a turn of events, the victim utilized a tracking feature that was previously installed on the stolen cell phone, revealing its current location at a nearby business. Officers quickly responded to the business and located Moore inside. Upon seeing the officers, Moore attempted to evade capture but was subsequently ordered to stop. He continued to resist arrest, leading officers to deploy a Taser to secure him. After being subdued and handcuffed, Moore was escorted to a patrol vehicle but refused to enter willingly. While being placed in the vehicle, he spat on an officer.

Moore is very well known by law enforcement for violent crimes and being the respondent to an active order of protection.
