On Thursday, April 14 2022, at approximately 1:36 p.m., officers from the Fairview Heights Police Department responded to the T.G.I. Friday’s parking lot, 6900 North Illinois, for a vehicle verses pedestrian crash. While officers responded, it was learned that the vehicle left the scene and was travelling eastbound on Salem Place toward O’Fallon.
A short time later, a call was received from the driver of the vehicle, who provided his location. O’Fallon police units were able to locate the driver and vehicle, while Fairview Heights officers responded to their location. The driver was transported to the FHPD, where he is being held while the investigation continues.
The pedestrian was transported by ambulance to a St Louis-area hospital, and is in critical condition.
